Days of our Lives
(Airs Weekdays at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., and Sundays from Midnight – 5:00 a.m., ET)
The fictitious town of Salem, U.S.A., is the backdrop for the dramatic events of the Horton, Brady and Reed families, their friends, neighbors and acquaintances on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, the long-running daytime drama produced by Corday Productions, Inc., in association with Sony Pictures Television, Inc.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES, which premiered on November 8, 1965 as a half-hour daytime drama, expanded to an hour in April 1975. The series has received more than 40 Emmy nominations in performance and individual achievement over the past decade, including several Emmy Awards in the acting, directing, writing and technical areas. In addition, the series has won the Soap Opera Award as "Favorite Show" fourteen times in the twenty-year history of the awards program, an award voted on by the readers of Soap Opera Digest magazine.
In 1999, DAYS OF OUR LIVES was named "Favorite Soap Opera" at the first broadcast of the TV Guide Awards, the largest poll in television history. The show was also voted "Favorite Daytime Serial" at the People's Choice Awards in 1997 and 1998.
Although DAYS OF OUR LIVES was created by the late Ted Corday, Irna Philips and Allan Chase, the soap was essentially Ted Corday's project and it is under the Corday Productions, Inc., banner that it has prospered. In an innovative move for the time, Hollywood leading man Macdonald Carey was hired to play the lead character of 'Dr. Tom Horton,' which he did happily for 28 years.
With the death of Ted Corday in 1966, his widow Betty took over the Executive Producer role and evolved DAYS into the terrific melodrama that it remains today. Ken Corday, son of the late Ted and Betty Corday, presently helms the show.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES is a Corday Productions, Inc., presentation in association with Sony Pictures Television, Inc. Ken Corday and Steve Wyman are the Executive Producers.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES is videotaped at NBC Studios in Burbank, California.
DAYS OR OUR LIVES can be seen weeknights at 7PM on SOAPnet and Sundays from 7PM - 12AM.
